Address Validator FAQ

Guidance focused on reducing return-to-sender issues and label delivery exceptions.

Format validation is not the same as deliverability validation. A structurally correct address can still fail because of bad unit info, stale records, or local routing constraints.

Use two-letter abbreviations like TX or CA. They align with USPS and carrier label standards and reduce parsing errors.

ZIP+4 is useful when you want tighter sorting accuracy and fewer exceptions. ZIP5 is still widely accepted for standard shipments.

Put apartment, suite, or unit information on Address Line 2. Missing unit details are a common cause of delivery failure.

This page is US-focused. For international addresses, use destination-country postal standards and official carrier validation tools.
